Accessibility

Accessibility here at Wooda Farm Holiday Park, Bude, is very important to us and we endeavour to cater for all needs as best as possible, please read our accessibility policy below to find out more.

Wooda Farm Holiday Park, Cornwall, was once a working farm set in the Valley of Bush. As the farm diversified into tourism, the holiday park was developed over the surrounding farmland at the top of the hill. The park itself is set on a slight slope; however, this doesn’t prove too difficult for those with a disability, wheelchairs or other mobility vehicles.

There is a car park adjacent to the reception area. The reception and shop are accessible by a ramp. The reception and shop have adequate space for wheelchairs and mobility vehicles; there is also a lowered desk in reception. Staff are always willing to help and provide assistance when required. While reception does not have an induction loop, all of our reception staff have been trained to assist people who are hard of hearing. All information that might be needed during your stay at Wooda is written in our Welcome Leaflet and Information Booklet that can be found in reception, and park maps are used to direct customers to pitches and show them where all the facilities are. Safety is important to us at Wooda, therefore, a 5mph speed limit applies throughout the park. Clearly, marked speed humps are also present.

Accommodation

Wooda Farm Holiday Park has 55 Holiday Homes, one of which, Derwent, is a two bedroom holiday home that has been specially designed for those with limited mobility. Ramp access through the lounge door leads to a spacious interior that is fully adapted for wheelchair users. All rooms are fully accessible for wheelchairs. Parking is available alongside all of our accommodation – there are tarmacked parking bays. All our other Holiday Homes are accessible by 1 – 3 steps. The Holiday Homes are most suited to those with reasonable mobility.

Derwent Holiday Home Master Bedroom

We also have two cottages, Brambles and Tregea. Re-built in 2012, Tregea is more suitable for those with a disability due to being much more spacious than Brambles. Access to Tregea is via one step at the back of the property, or ramped access to the front of the property. There are three downstairs bedrooms, one en-suite, a wet room and an open plan lounge/diner and kitchen. The decking to the front and rear of the property is level access from the inside of the house, and a small step from the outside. The back garden is accessible via a slope from the front garden or steps from the decking. Access to the holiday park from Tregea without using the road is via one small step through a garden gate.

Brambles is accessible for those with a disability however not fully accessible for wheelchair users. Access to Brambles is via two steps at both the front and the rear of the property. There is an open plan lounge/kitchen diner, two bedrooms downstairs and a bathroom. In the bathroom there is a bath with a shower over, not a walk-in shower. There is a walk-in shower upstairs in the en-suite to the main bedroom.

Touring and Camping

Wooda has 300 touring and camping pitches situated in various locations, some with views of Bude Bay and others with views of the surrounding countryside. Some of these are hard standing pitches, with waste, water and electricity on the pitch for easy access. They are also individually screened giving extra privacy. All pitches have parking alongside. We welcome assistance dogs within the touring and camping area. There are two allocated exercising areas located onsite. A disabled bathroom with level access is located within two of our toilet and shower blocks which are accessible using a radar key. These can be hired from reception for a small deposit if you don’t have your own. All of our toilet and shower blocks are spacious. They are all on ground level with one small step (lip) for access. Private Family bathrooms are also available which suit those with reasonable mobility; please ask for information when booking. Please ask when booking if you require to be pitched close to these facilities and we will endeavour to honour your request.

Facilities

The Takeaway is situated across from the reception area which is able to be easily accessed up a slight slope; access onto the patio area is ground level with a slight lip. Access to the farm area is down a steep lane due to it being set in a valley; therefore not so accessible for wheelchairs. There is, however, a tarmacked path running from the park to the farm, fully lit and off the road so free from traffic. It is suitable for wheelchairs and mobility vehicles although there is a slope to the farm area at the end of the path. Parking is adequate at the farm so vehicles can be taken to The Courtyard and farm area.

Level access is provided to The Courtyard and a disabled toilet facility is also present; this is accessible at all times without the use of a radar key. The Loft is partially accessible throughout – there are a few steps due to being on a split level, but once inside it is level. The courtyard area leading into the games room is also level access. There is a gentle slope up to the Sports Barn where level access is provided to the badminton and tennis courts. Disabled toilet facilities are also provided in the sports barn. The Pitch ‘n’ Putt course is set on a slope, therefore, unfortunately only accessible for those with reasonable mobility. The Farmyard Friends are accessed again by a slope and along a tarmacked path; however this is quite accessible for wheelchairs and mobility vehicles. Our range of activities take place at the farm in the main season, these include archery and pottery painting. Wheelchair users are able to take part and staff are fully trained in providing assistance where it is required. The Fishing lakes are normally accessed through the Woodland Walk. The Woodland walk is set in a valley, therefore, this is not overly accessible for wheelchairs. However, there is road access for the fishing lakes which has disabled access. Please ask at reception for more information.
