Access Statement

Wooda Farm Park was once a working farm set in the Valley of Bush. As the farm diversified into tourism, the park was developed over the surrounding farm land at the top of the hill. The park itself is set on a slight slope; however this doesn’t prove difficult for wheelchairs or other mobility vehicles. There is a car park adjacent to the reception area. The reception and shop is accessible by a ramp. The reception has adequate space for wheelchairs and mobility vehicles; however some areas of the shop are inaccessible for wheelchairs. Staff are always willing to help and provide assistance if required. While the park does not have an induction loop at reception, all of our reception staff have been trained to assist people who are hard of hearing. All information that might be needed during your stay at Wooda is written in our Welcome Leaflet and Information Booklet that can be found in reception. Safety is important to us at Wooda therefore a 10mph speed limit applies throughout the park. Clearly marked speed humps are also present.

Accommodation

Wooda has 55 Holiday Homes, one of which is a two bedroom holiday home that has been specially designed for the disabled. Ramp access through the lounge door leads to a spacious interior that is fully adapted for the disabled. All rooms are fully accessible for wheelchairs. Parking is available alongside. All our other Holiday Homes are accessible by 1 – 3 steps, all with parking alongside, some of which have tarmaced parking bays. The Holiday Homes are most suited to those with reasonable mobility. We also have two cottages, Brambles and Tregea. Access to both of these is via a small step leading into a porch area. Both cottages are able to be accessed by wheelchairs; however they are not especially adapted. Brambles is bigger than Tregea therefore it is more suitable for wheelchair users. It has two ground floor bedrooms and a bathroom with a spacious open plan kitchen diner and lounge area. Tregea again has two ground floor bedrooms with a smaller kitchen, dining room and lounge. The smaller hallways make Tregea not so accessible for wheelchair users. Those with reasonable mobility will be better suited to this cottage. Unfortunately, guide dogs are unable to stay in our holiday homes.

Touring and Camping

Wooda has 220 touring and camping pitches situated in various locations, some with views of Bude Bay and others with views of the surrounding countryside. 63 of these are hardstanding pitches, with waste, water and electricity on the pitch for easy access. They are also individually screened giving extra privacy. All pitches have parking alongside. We welcome assistance dogs within the touring and camping area. There are two allocated exercising areas located onsite. A disabled bathroom with level access is located within one of our toilet and shower blocks which is accessible using a radar key. These can be hired from reception for a small deposit if you don’t have your own. All of our toilet and shower blocks are spacious. They are all on ground level with one small step (lip) for access. Private Family bathrooms are also available which suit those with reasonable mobility; please ask for information when booking. Please ask when booking if you require to be pitched close to these facilities and we will endeavor to honor your request.

Facilities

The Takeaway is situated across from the reception area which is able to be easily accessed up a slight slope; access onto the patio area is ground level with a slight lip. Access to the farm area is down a steep lane due to it being set in a valley; therefore not so accessible for wheelchairs. Parking is adequate at the farm so vehicles can be taken down. Level access is provided to the Courtyard Bar and a disabled toilet facility is also present; this is accessible at all times without the use of a radar key. The courtyard area leading into the games room is also level access. There is a gentle slope up to the sports barn where level access is provided to the badminton and tennis courts. Disabled toilet facilities are also provided in the sports barn. The Pitch ‘n’ Putt course is set on a slope therefore is unfortunately only accessible for those with reasonable mobility. The Farmyard Friends are accessed again by a slope and along a graveled path; however this is quite accessible for wheelchairs and mobility vehicles. Our range of activities take place at the farm in the main season, these include Archery and Clay Pigeon Shooting. Wheelchair users are able to take part and staff are fully trained in providing assistance where it is required. The Fishing lakes are normally accessed through the Woodland Walk. The Woodland walk is around woodland set in a valley therefore this is not overly accessible for wheelchairs. However, there is road access for the fishing lakes which allows the disabled to access them. Please ask in reception for more information.

Access to the Local Area

Unfortunately there isn’t a frequent bus service from the park into the town. However, buses run frequently to surrounding areas from Bude, for example to the train stations at both Exeter and Plymouth. More information on this can be found from the Tourist Information centre in Bude (01288 354240). There are taxi services that cater for wheelchairs in the area, B&S Taxis (07889 833127) and Robs Travel (07771 824141).
