At this time of year it can sometimes be a problem to motivate oneself to get active, it’s January and it can be cold, wet and pretty difficult to keep up with those health and fitness resolutions we all made just a few short weeks ago. (I know I’ve not done very well, somehow the biscuit jar just always seems so much easier to find than my running shoes or wetsuit!).
And at this point, you might be thinking, “How is a Cornish holiday park going to help us with that?!”. After all, a holiday on the North Cornwall coast in Winter probably conjures up images of getting cosy in front of a wood burner, delicious beverage in one hand and a Daphne du Maurier novel in the other, after a hard day quaffing cream teas in some of the local cafes. Whilst this can certainly be catered for at Wooda, we also appreciate that some of you might just want to take on mother nature, whatever her mood, in another way and enjoy some wholesome winter activities in Bude to keep the legs working, hearts pumping and senses enjoying the scenery when Cornwall is that bit quieter.
So, in this post, we will be suggesting a few of the awesome activities that you can enjoy on our spectacular stretch of Cornish coastline that will make you feel a bit better about the post-Christmas calorie intake or the resolutions that might just have run aground.
Coastal Path Walks with IM Hikes
As my granny always used to say, “There’s no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing choices!” and when it comes to hiking the North Cornish Coast Path in winter this aphorism surely holds.

Ivyleaf Golf
Before this winter I had a preconceived notion of golfing; that it was for boring people in funny clothes, who played at stuffy clubs with little to no inclusivity. But with a long absence of surfable waves, some good friends and the amazing folks at Ivy Leaf Golf Club I have had my mind well and truly changed.
Ivy Leaf Golf Club is the perfect place to try out the game of golf if you’ve never played before, the friendly staff, cheap green fees, floodlit driving range and state-of-the-art golfing simulator (perfect for a rainy day) make this 9-hole course with stunning views an absolute delight. You can even rent a golf cart on those days when the legs aren’t playing ball! I have fallen in love with golf because of the great guys at this course and I’m sure you will too. Plus, it’s less than a 5-minute drive from us here at Wooda! Check out current opening times and prices on their website Here>
Bude Sea Pool Cold Water Swims
Another great option for an active winter activity is to refresh yourself at the Bude Sea Pool, which stands as a haven for cold water enthusiasts seeking a unique swimming experience. Carved into the rocks, the pool is filled with the ebb and flow of the Atlantic Ocean, providing a brisk and invigorating swimming experience. You’ll navigate this one-of-a-kind open-air pool, and embrace the challenge of cold water immersion against the stunning backdrop of cliffs and crashing waves. Bude Sea Pool’s cold water swims offer not only a physical workout but also an invigorating reconnection with nature, making it a distinctive and memorable aquatic adventure for anybody with a penchant for cold water swimming. In Cornwall, there is a veritable plethora of outdoor activities that you can undertake during your stay at Wooda Farm Holiday Park.
